Brief Information The Bible Society in the Republic of Belarus is a religious organization established in January 1992 on the initiative of Christians of different denominations, such as Orthodoxy, Catholicism, Greek-Catholics, Baptists, Seven-Day Adventists, Evangelical Faith Christians (Pentecostals), and Belarusian Evangelical Church. The representatives of those denominations are the members of the BS Board. The BS General Assembly is a superior constituent body for the Board. Mr German Rodov is BS' Chairman, and Mr Igor Mikhailov serves as BS' Executive Director. Complying with the BS' Regulations, the BS acts in concordance with the Belarusian legislation and the Constitution. The BS is a member of the worldwide UBS fellowship whose activity embraces more than 200 countries. The BS is a large center disseminating the Bibles and spiritual Christian literature throughout Belarus. For the time of its existence, the BS has distributed more than 1,100,000 copies of the Holy Scriptures and other Christian books. There is a rich catalogue at the BS's disposal, which includes over 70 items of the books, audio and video material available. The BS is involved in the project of translating the Bible into the Belarusian language, actively cooperates with the national mass media in the area of spiritual enlightenment of our people, and is engaged with publishing the books of the Holy Scripture in Russian and Belarusian. |
