Hear God
Aim of the project:
To show the Belarusian people the way towards the faith and salvation through hearing the Word of God in the native language.
Project summary:
The population of Belarus, a country of eastern Europe, amounts to 10,000,000 people, while the total run of the Belarusian Scriptures having published in XX century is about 50,000 copies. As regards the audio NT in Belarusian, it has never been issued in Belarus, even though some 74% residents consider Belarusian to be their native language. Russian is a communication tool for the residents of big industrial centers mainly, while the Belarusian language is actively used by the intellectuals, the higher reaches of the society, partly by students, and countryside residents. Socially active young people are also adherents of using Belarusian on a day-to-day basis. So it is very important to provide the Belarusian NT on audio for these categories.
Some time ago, the Bible Society published a book of the New Testament in Belarusian, which had been quickly distributed, and is very popular with churches. We received a number of requests from churches and individuals for producing the Belarusian NT on audio.The modern young people are reluctant to read; they actively use mivroelectronic digital devices, and prefer hearing to reading. Worship services are conducted in Belarusian in the Catholic Church's parishes, and fortnight pilgrimages are held with the Catholic youth inviting their unbelieving friends and talking to them. They all need to hear the Word of God, and the audio NT is a bright opportunity we shouldn't miss.
The present need cannot be fully met by the funds allocated for the project, therefore we are open for any contributions in order to be able to reach more people with the Good News of mercy, hope and love.
