Boarding school for girls, Mogiljov

The boarding school-gymnasium for girls was founded five years ago in the city of Mogiljov (photo). There are 75 female orphans there who range in age from 7 to 17 years. But eight girls’ parents are not alive, the rest do have parents, but they are deprived of parental rights. The main reason of such a tragic situation is alcoholism. Children in such families are left uncared and go about hungry. The teachers say that the girls are difficult to deal with. They don’t want to do exercises and get irritated when teachers admonish them. School program includes studies on needlework, handiwork, art and moral upbringing, and it is very important that the children should have the Scriptures and other Christian literature.

Svieta is 16 (photo, right). He mother died when she was 6. At the age of 10 her father died and so the girl was made an orphan. Svieta is a graduate and she will go on with her education as she wants to be an economist.

Martha is 10 (photo, left). A shy girl, she was unwilling to tell something about herself, but as we learned from the teachers, the stories of the inmates are similar: their parents are often jobless, addicted to drink, or imprisoned. We hope that the Christian books we’d given to the establishment will bear good fruit in these girls’ lives.
