Commemoration of Cyril and Methody

Having been conducted the tenth time, this event took place at the European Humanitarian University. The greeting word was delivered by Phylaret, Minsk and Slutsk Metropolitan, the Patriarchal Exarch of the whole Belarus, EHU's theological faculty dean; Mr. Vladimir Rad'kov, Minister of Education; Mrs. Yanina Grigorovich, professor and Belarusian State University of Culture rector; Mr. Vladimir Dunayev, acting EHU's rector as well as the representatives of the accredited embassies.
Holding this event has become a good tradition, as these days the Orthodox Church commemorates Sts. Cyril and Methody, who are considered to be as much revered as the apostles. The fact that the representatives of many European nations have come to take part in this event testifies to its high status. Seen through the perspective of the processes going on in the society in the sphere of culture and science, the important issues are raised and different opinions are freely spoken at this forum. The questions are discussed related to the responsibility of the Church for God's creation committed to a man to care of, responsibility of a man for what is in his heart, as it is human heart that evil thoughts as well as good ones emanate from. Since the Fall every man has been in the need of being spiritually reborn by God's Spirit through true repentance, and the Church today is challenged by the necessity of educating our folks in spiritual matters and promulgating Christian values.
Having the BS's goals standing in consistency with that, we on our part are ready for active collaboration with the Christians of different denominations through various programs proclaiming His life-transforming Word to them that are lost in their sins and need to be saved.
