For many years the BS has been actively collaborating with the library system of the country. Libraries are huge stories of great variety of literature of which spiritual literature items are quite few in number. Frequented by multitude, these establishments are the places where people can satisfy the interest in various questions, find companions to discuss the issues with, and add to their experience through getting acquaintance with the information from different sources. Having spacious reading halls and those for conferences at their disposals, libraries are able to organize and hold meetings, contests, conferences etc. That constitutes tremendous contribution to the development and popularization of the libraries, transforming them into enlightenment and education centers for the Belarusians. Children libraries play very important part in this process, as it is thanks to their activity that the seeds of eternal truths both moral and spiritual are planted in the hearts of the youth, the librarians working committedly. Having the similar task - providing young people with Christian education and forming conscientious men for our society - the Bible Society of Belarus is deeply interested in bringing into contacts with the libraries and actively involved in the cooperation with these establishments. As we found out, the supply of spiritual literature in the libraries' stocks are very poor as for the variety of items and the numbers of copies both. Acting out of charitable motives, the Bible Society supplied all the children libraries of Minsk with the sets of spiritual literature. The libraries' staff expressed their thankfulness and readiness for further collaboration. Our contacts with the children central library have been particularly close and fruitful. There we held the course of lectures in cooperation with the workers of the "Defense of life at the dawn" fund and the biblical topic picture contest between the students of the music school named after P. Glebau. Also, the performance of the Golgotha church puppet theatre was given, followed by the children gifts distribution. That's why no wonder the Bible Society was invited to participate the solemn celebratory ceremony on the anniversary of the library founded 80 years ago. Among numerous delegations, ranking from minor executives to the foreign embassies deputies, the right to speak was given to the representatives of the Bible Society. Giving the words of greetings and kind congratulations on the occasion, they briefly told about the various aspects of the BS's activity: books dissemination, publishing, charity etc. New points of contacts and further cooperation with this library as well as the other ones have been found, and we made an acquaintance with the academician Tyavlovsky, the artist Vitkovskaya, the poet Skarinkin and other public figures. Hopefully that will help towards the development of the cooperation with Belarusian intelligentsia.
