Help To The Elderly And Less Able
Aim of the project:
To give people roofed by homes for old and disabled an opportunity for hearing the Word of God.
Project summary:
The Bible Society intends to render help to 74 rest homes for elderly and less able, which shelter 17,380 people. They have lived a life filled with many hardships. Many of them survived Stalin's repressions, the war-time. Women lost their husbands, and, having never got married again, were left alone. They laid aside money for their old age, but the collapse of the finansial system back in 1991 had left them penniless. Unable to fit themselves to a new value system, they remained faithful to communist ideology in spite of all the difficulties they'd suffered. They desperately need support, and it is so important to give them an opportunity to read the biblical message, so that peace in their hearts could replace dissapointment and feeling of hopelessness.
Along with the elderly, people of different age groups are also sheltered by the rest homes. They became disabled for a variety of causes- because of birth trauma, or grave illnesses, or heredital diseases. There are also the boarding homes housing those having different degrees of retardation. All these people receive support from the state; they have food, clothes, houserooms, medical service. What they don't have is spiritual food - the Word coming from God, which will give them hope for the future.
The present need cannot be fully met by the funds allocated for the project, therefore we are open for any contributions in order to be able to reach more old people and invalids with the Good News of mercy, hope and love.
