Scriptures For Orphans
Aim of the project:
Helping the children deprived of parental care and love form Christian outlook and implanting true values in their hearts.
Project summary:
About 5,000 children become orphans in Belarus each year. 95% of them are social orphans, i.e. either their parents are deprived of parental rights, or the parents themselves have abandoned their own children. The adults are often addicted to alcohol, and so the chidlren born from such "parents" have various deviations both physical and mental. 19% of the orphans suffer from chronic dieases, and other 18% have different degrees of retardation. Social organizations and charities meet the children's daily needs, but the importance of meeting their spiritual needs cannot be overestimated. There is a persistent need of the Bible in the establishments of a kind. The libraries' stock is often poor, and at some homes there are no Bibles at all. The Bible Society has always strived for supplying children's homes with Christian literature, but much work still to be done because of a great number of family type children's homes having been formed recently; besides, the children in foster families need the Scriptures as well.
The present need cannot be fully met by the funds allocated for the project, therefore we are open for any contributions in order to be able to reach more orphans with the Good News of mercy, hope and love.
