Boarding school for children with speech disturbancies in Vileyka
The boarding school in Vileyka (photo) houses 179 children. Speech disturbances are closely connected with mentality level. Alcoholism of adults is often responsible for retardation of children. Some of the parents abandon their children; some are debarred of their parental rights or serve terms in prisons.
Denis (photo) is 12. He is an orphan. His parents haven’t taken proper care of him since his childhood. Only concerned about having a drink, they have been completely indifferent to the child’s needs. Naturally, they couldn’t see the speech problem when it started to develop.
Sergyey (photo) is 13. He is an orphan too, and was brought to the boarding school eight years ago. His parents’ whereabouts are unknown. It is his grandmother only that visits him from time to time.
The children were very glad to learn about the interesting colorful books that I brought (photo).
It is very difficult to understand what they speak, and their ability to communicate is very limited, but through reading the Word of God they will be able to talk to their Heavenly Father from their hearts.
Then I came up and talked to the children playing at the recreation ground. Vlad, Denis and Tolik (photo) are undivided friends. They are from 10 to 12 years old. The parents of Vlad and Denis are alive, but those of Tolik were burnt to death in fire. His grandmother is the only relative that is alive. The boys too were glad about the Christian literature from the Bible Society.
